Meet Our Newest BOE Member

Nathan Metzler is our newest Board of Education member. He works full-time as a timber buyer for B&B Lumber Company located in Jamesville, NY. Mr. Metzler’s responsibilities include buying timber and managing timber lands in a 150 mile radius of Syracuse. He also enjoys hunting and running around our beautiful countryside. Mr. Metzler and his wife have two children that attend Cincinnatus.

Mr. Metzler was elected last spring and officially became part of the board this past July. Since being elected as a member he has been in a learning capacity to understand all of the needs and issues related to the district. He has been meeting with members of the leadership team to understand their roles and responsibilities.  In addition, Mr. Metzler has attended a 12 hour new board member workshop and will attend a financial workshop later this year. “The board functions and makes decisions as one body and as such it is important that we know each other well and work as a team toward common goals. The board met in a workshop at the end of summer to set goals and get to know each other better. Some of the others have been serving for more than 10 years so I have a lot to learn from them. We have been able to be a part of some great changes in our children's education this year,” said Mr. Metzler. Some of the new programs are Math180 and labs for high school math. Both of these programs will enable our students to get some extra help and enable the kids to use math concepts in practical ways. The board is also going to be more proactive in using the website and Lion's Roar to communicate and get more public involvement. When asked why it is important for him to be a part of our school board, he said, “Seeing children have success in learning is what keeps us all putting in the time necessary to do a good job. Seeing students succeed is why I wanted to serve on the board.” Thank you to Mr. Metzler for volunteering his time to help make our school the best it can be!
